At Krone Excavating, safety is more than a checklist. It's the foundation of every project we take on. With deep utility trenches, heavy machinery, and active job sites, excavation work carries inherent risks. Our team takes proactive steps every day to ensure those risks are minimized, and that every worker goes home safe.
Trench Safety is Non-Negotiable
Trenching is one of the most hazardous operations on a job site. We follow OSHA Subpart P trenching standards to the letter. Every trench over five feet deep is evaluated and supported using proper techniques:
Trench boxes and hydraulic shoring
Sloping and benching based on soil type
Daily inspections before work begins
Our foremen are trained to recognize early signs of trench failure and ensure proper protective systems are always in place.
Training and Certification Make the Difference
We don’t rely on guesswork or outdated knowledge. Our team maintains current certifications in:
CPR and First Aid
OSHA Trench Safety
Confined space awareness and entry protocols
By investing in training, we equip our crews with the confidence and knowledge to stay safe under pressure.
Daily Safety Culture
Each morning starts with a pre-task safety meeting. These briefings include:
Equipment inspections and function checks
Ground condition and weather assessments
Traffic control planning and utility awareness
We encourage open communication and stop-work authority, empowering our crews to speak up if something isn’t safe.
Safety isn’t a side task. It’s the way we operate from the first shovel in the ground to final grade.
